Why are we merging?

We believe that the merger will make it possible for us to:
  • Better plan the services we can offer to our patients
  • Tailor our services to the needs of our patient population
  • Structure our non-clinical workload to allow Doctors and Nurses to spend less time on paperwork
  • Offer more varied appointment times at different locations
  • Offer our patients access to services over 8 sites
  • Continue to offer good quality Primary Care to our patients.
  • Ensure the future stability of our practices.
  • Provide more development opportunities for our staff.

Frequently asked Questions

Will I still be able to see my own Doctor?
You will still be able to book a routine appointment with the Doctor of your choice

Will I still be able to attend the same premises?
You can attend the same premises as you visit now but in the future will be able to choose where you go.

Will I still be able to contact you on the same telephone number?
You will initially be able to use the same telephone number. We will be planning to centralise the telephone system to 1 number for all 8 sites.

Will I be able to request my repeat prescription the same way as now?
You will be able to request and collect your repeat prescription in the same way as you do now. We plan to explore ways of improving this service so that it is easier for our patients to Princess Street Group Practice receive their regular medications.

Will I still be registered at my current practice?
You will be registered with the new merged practice but you can still see your own Doctor and you can still attend the site of your choice.

Will the merged practice be taking new registration?
The merged practice will be registering new patients.

Will the merged practice have a different name?
Yes, the merged practice will have a different name - we have asked the staff from all the sites for suggestions of the name.

Have you informed the Patient Participation Group of the merger?
Yes, we have meet with the patient participation group of all the sites and discussed the merger with them.

Who else have you consulted with?
We are in discussions with NHS Southwark CCG and NHS England and with Southwark Council. We will also be discussing with other local community groups.

Will you be making staff redundant?
No, all staff will be transferred over to the new merged practice under TUPE arrangements.
